THE title of Bridgwater’s strongest man was decided at Trimwise Health and Fitness Club in Eastover this weekend.
With the strongest man in Britain, Laurence Shahlaei, judging the competition, the ten bulky men competed in a show of strength and to raise money for a cancer charity.
The gym’s fundraising day also included a 12-hour Aerobathon, with all proceeds going to Breakthrough Breast Cancer South West.
Luke Hayward was crowned Bridgwater’s strongest man at the end of the day, narrowly beating the favourite Roger Guy in what proved to be a tight contest.
Selina Guy, from Trimwise, said: “It was a really nice friendly competition and everyone had a good laugh together. We had requests for it to become a regular event.”
