Why on earth would anyone want to attend a concert for this, after all it hasn't even opened yet, And why would you want to pay £8.00 to listen to some band from Taunton, I'm surprised Liddell Grainger isn't opening the place as he only ever shows for photo opportunities.

I would also like to support the " Bridgwater Band " theme, why on earth do they contact A Taunton based Band.??? Or, have they first tried, and not found a Bridgwater Band available on this occasion !!!
The normal anti ILG Comments, have been Posted, perhaps Iain is already engaged elsewhere, or on his own Personal Holiday with his family. !! Get off your Hobby Horse, criticise when Warranted !!
Just remember, it was Only Us Conservatives, on Bridgwater Town Council, who Voted FOR !! The New Hospital, to go on Bower, which was the Only land available, within the Time Table to get the Bid into Government, for Funding.
Despite this, the Process was Started, but No Funding left after Gordon Browns Labour Party's mishandling of Government Finances, thankfully with our Conservative Management of the Exchequers Finances, over the Last 3-4 years, the Funding Stream has been secured, Hence, built and now ready to be used soon.

Perhaps they hope to get Taunton Band in to raise some money as after all 33 million for a hospital was it good value for money at that much with no A&E, hmmm. I think NOT, time will tell though will it not. Its not the real hospital that is needed how much of the 33 squid million was to pay for the roundabouts, pavements, car park, flood lights and not the actual wards, beds, and medical equipment and precious nurses and doctors. (by the way nice job done NOT, on roundabouts and dangerous both of them!). I am surprised there is not a fun open day planned with bouncy castle for the kids on the ground of the hospital to get some money for nothing back.

We in Bridgwater, under the Funding from the Last Labour Government, only were in the Scheme of Getting a New Facility, after Shepton Mallet, Minehead, and then when we looked @ Possible Site' Specifics , ie availability, Bower Farm Land, was the Only land Available, remember, Cellophane / Innovia, Morrisons, Bristol Rd, Northgate Splash Site, non of these were even talked of as being available.
So Bower, was the only Site Available. As one of Bowers District Councillors, with the support only of my 2 District /Town Cllrs (Conservative Supporting) we managed to Get this Passed through the SDC Full Council. Bridgwater Labour Councillors Rejected this Scheme, despite there being No Other On the Table, with A deadline to Government to secure Funding, ( We learnt Later this was a Joke , as the Money was not there to Secure the Project)
Blair, Brown had overspent big time !!! Spend Money on Projects to buy votes in Certain Area's. This Hospital is 2 years behind its original Build Deadline, because The Conservatives, now in Government had to find the £35-40 Million, to Start Construction.
The only ray of Sunshine, to come from the 2 yr delay is that any inbuilt errors to the Shepton / Minehead Hospitals could be omitted or replaced.
To Answer one post, made re no A&E Dept, it never was planned, it is a Minor Injuries Hospital, Trauma Patients will will as now go to Musgrove or Weston, depending on Capability of each Hospital @ the Time !! From memory of 6 years ago, when discussing the Requirements / Facilities to be part of the Structured Uses, 30 General beds With 3/5 Acute Need Beds, a Seperate Birthing Suite, of 6 -9 Beds !! With as I said Minor Injuries Clinic, and Substantially more Out patient Consultant Clinics than we have in The existing Hospital at present.
In one of the Posts, it is stated that the Facility is for OAP 's only, well I have to disagree !! Next door on land which Nataro 's have Purchased will be a Dementure / Altzheimers Care Facility, which will be welcomed by many, who have to face Relatives with this illness. Unfortunatly, it's coming to us all, as the population lives longer 80-100, is the Norm now, if lucky to have the health, without this or other debilitating Illnesses.
Had we not accepted the process, 6 years ago, we would not be in the Position to start the New building of the Hospital, as many posters have Commented what is wrong with the present one, well plenty, they obviously, luckily not had to work in it or be a Patient, in it !!!
As for the Highway / Roundabout, SCC **** -Up - I could Say Plenty, but why waste Print, they are a Law to themselves, listen to no imput, but I Will, or reasoned Argument !!!!! U will not find Stupid Rounabouts in Taunton, when the Bath Rd junction was discussed, traffic Lights 4 way Controlled Junction was what I remember, but hey !!! They say one thing Do another in SCC Highways............
..........the Roundabouts @ the Hospital itself has to cater for 40 ton Cattle Transporters passing Thro or around to the Farm on Bower Lane, ........

the voice of common sense says...

Just remember that this hospital is NOT funded by government but paid for under a PFI agreement where the building is not owned by the health authority but by the developer, who funded the building with a government guarantee on the funding to support them. (The reason for this is that it doesn't appear as government borrowing so it doesn't show up on the books) The local health trust then rent the building from the developer at a commercial rent each year, so if the building cost 30 million pounds to build the rent will be about 2.4 million pounds per year. There will be no extra money paid to the trust to pay the rent, so, where will the money come from? Answer from the patient treatment budget, which in the long term will probably mean a cut in services or the hospital being taken over by a larger trust. I expect that the first service to go will be the A+E department and we will all have to traipse over to MPH or suffer.

You don't have to take my word for this, because this is the reason a lot of hospitals are in severe financial situations by having to close wards to save money so that the developer can be paid.

I know that some will point out that this is how the last government paid for a lot of improvements in this country, but they were only following on from Major and his crew

What you miss the point is whether Blair, Brown promised, is that the New Hospital only came about from Conservative funding, there was NO FUNDING from Labour, despite their Pledge. !!!
No matter how the actual Finances are Procured, we needed a New Hospital.
The Facilities are what is required, an Minor Injuries Clinic and Out Patients Clinics, with the 30 bed wards - and the Maternity Ward.
The hospital was announced, without the Funding to provide, no. Money in the Exchequer. All spent, without accountability. If in Business, you would be declared Bankrupt.

So once again Dave your argument has been proved wanting and so like all bullies you try and fudge your reasoning and come up with the classic dodge. In this case "no matter how the actual finances are procured".

On the subject of medical treatment, the NHS and your own persona, I witnessed something in a Doctors surgery at Cranleigh Gardens a few weeks ago which actually beggared belief . Oh yes, it was you shouting and ranting at the bewildered staff in the waiting room while everyone else in the room just looked on open mouthed in disbelief. This isn't the first time I've had the "pleasure" of your company but i'll save those stories for another time

Freddie, if you knew the Background, as to the Last 15 Months of trying to get from Cranliegh Gardens Medical Centre, the Required services! for not only my Personal Medical needs, but also my Brothers needs, of which, were not being addressed.
What, you witnessed, was frustration, from myself towards receptionist, who are there to Facilitate, you or me making an Appointment, of to Obtain repeat Perscriptions, or Appts with the Nursing Staff for Bloods etc. This Particular receptionist, is " of the Old School type " not there to help, but on the Contary,
Not willing to listen to as what you are asking for or requiring.
The frustration comes from not being to order repeat Persciptions on-Line, for the last 6-9 Months, when you order physically by phone or in person. The Script not being Sent to Redgate Pharmacy, as arranged, with the normal 48 hr delay for collection.
The reason for my not using Cranleigh Dispensary, they no longer stock the Brand of Cramp Tabs that I have to take Daily for Back Probs, after a Car Accident 25 years ago, along with the Back/spine Medication, to relieve 24 hour ongoing pain.
The incident, that you refer, in the Reception area, was again, frustration, having just returned from spending 5 1/2 hrs in Musgrove A&E, in the Heart Ward, being Diognoised with Aerterial Fibrillation, the Consultant, gave me a hand written letter, to give IMMEDIATLY to my Dr so as the Medication He wanted me to start taking, that Day. My enquiry of the Receptionist was as to when Dr G Whihe was available to read and write the New Script, my enquiry was as to when she was on Duty, the negative answer to ?? today, No!!! Westonzoyland ,No! tomorrow No ! Very Non Helpfull ???
Then, I am told, I can collect the Script After 5 PM the Following Day !!
Frustrated u Bet,, not all the Receptionist, are not helpful, !!! But, this Lady is !!,
So the next day after 5 pm as Instructed, I go to collect my Script, guess what ? Not there, !!! So the Pharmacist, helpfully takes my Mobile number, to enquire, as to whereabout's of the Perscription @ 8am the Following Day !
She kindly, phoned me @ 8 .10 am, telling me that the Script was now filled, 48 hrs Plus after the Coronary Consultant @ Musgrove wanted me to Start the Medication ???? . The Sole purpose of him writing the Letter to my Dr and insisting I get it Filled that day, was because of immediacy required, in starting this Treatment and Medication.
Freddie, I believe you Too, would feel Frustrated, if treated this way. ????
You call my outburst Ranting, and shouting. !!! I call it attempting to get my point of view across, being assertive, and not standing for inefficiency, the Drs Practice, are there to provide a service , and when they do not, one tries to clarify the Situation.
I have been @ this Practice all my life, 50 of my 60 years, life starting at Dr Ree's in York Buildings, because, I have Challenged Dr Upton, recently with regard Medical Decisions he made, I am now being Ostricised, from the Practice, no other Dr, or Nurse within the Practice, have I any complaint about, or the other reception Staff or the Practice Nurses.

Freddie, yourself and Bridgie Old Boy, seem to Chastice me on every thing, that's your Perogative, but, I am allowed a right of reply. Of which, I have given above. !!! This obviously will not be adequate to yourself....... As you have assigned yourself as my Execution / Hangman, and will not be satisfied until you can blacken my Name !!!!!

Cheers Dave, thanks for pointing that out then!

Of course, the way people react to you has nothing to do with your own personal behaviour does it? I'm sure the rhino hide that you so obviously reside in negates any embarrassment that you should feel for what was a quite unbelievable tirade of abuse.

I'll save my other bits for a rainy day

What, you witnessed, was frustration, from myself towards receptionist, who are there to Facilitate, you or me making an Appointment, of to Obtain repeat Perscriptions, or Appts with the Nursing Staff for Bloods etc. This Particular receptionist, is " of the Old School type " not there to help, but on the Contary, Not willing to listen to as what you are asking for or requiring. But, this Lady is !!, So the next day after 5 pm as Instructed, I go to collect my Script, guess what ? Not there, !!! So the Pharmacist, helpfully takes my Mobile number, to enquire, as to whereabout's of the Perscription @ 8am the Following Day ! She kindly, phoned me @ 8 .10 am, telling me that the Script was now filled, 48 hrs Plus after the Coronary Consultant @ Musgrove wanted me to Start the Medication ???? . The Sole purpose of him writing the Letter to my Dr and insisting I get it Filled that day, was because of immediacy required, in starting this Treatment and Medication. I think there has been a lack of foresight with the new hospital, it will not be big enough as the population of Bridgwater expands (which it will with all the housing built recently and into the future), hopefully the fields next door can be snapped up to for future expansion.

For a town which will eventually probably be around 50,000-60,000 population or more, not to have an A & E will be a disgrace.

Surely 30 odd beds is not enough either!

I would like to know if they will be charging for parking? If they are then it is obvious that people will park in the neighbouring housing estates.

The Question, has already been Asked, as to the Future Needs, can the building be expanded as and when needed.!! The Answer was was Yes !!
The PCT as it was then, obviously assessed the Clinical needs of our Community and Area, with the increase future Population of the District, the modern Methods of Care in Hospital's now, and therefore the Bed numbers required.
As, I previously posted, the Extra Equipment and Professional Staffing, required for an A&E Dept / Hospital. So, therefore Taunton and Weston -Super-Mare, are deemed to be able to Cope. As they do at present.
We would all like to have the Facilities on our doorstep, but funding, is and always will be the issue.

Three Pots Derek, I Thank you for your Post, According to Freddie and BridgyOld Boy, they both Know best, I have nothing to hide, when asked to respond I Do to their Greater Knowledge !!. If I want to see a Doctor, or get repeat perscriptions, I expect to simply reorder on line, or make an Appt, without having to jump hurdles !! I only get frustrated when met with utter Jobsworth, this one particular receptionist only.
I do not go into my personal reasons, lightly, but it is expected when replying to Freddie!! Who, although unknown to me, likes to post personal Attacks towards me, so I will reply, to clarify the situation. But obviously not to his requirements. So it seems !!
