Tesco's generous donation to Somerset flood victims

Bridgwater Mercury: Somerset suffered badly from heavy rainfall this winter. Somerset suffered badly from heavy rainfall this winter.

TESCO has donated 400 items of furniture and 'home starter kits' of microwaves, kettles, cutlery and other essentials to flood victims.

The £35,000 load was delivered today (March 26) in four lorries to the donation centre at Huntworth Business Park, near Junction 24, Bridgwater - people needing supplies can visit the centre from Sunday to Thursday 10am to 3pm.

The appeal has been so overwhelmed that Somerset County Council is looking for a new warehouse to store donations.

Anyone with suitable space of around 13,500sq ft in the Bridgwater area should e-mail SCCPropertyServices@somerset.gov.uk
