A MAN was airlifted to hospital after a bull attacked him at Sedgemoor Livestock Market, off junction 24.

The air ambulance was called in by emergency services at around 3.30pm on Wednesday where he was flown to Frenchay Hospital with a broken leg.

The man, who was a staff member of the livestock market, was attacked by the bull when he stood too close to it and it knocked him down unexpectedly.

Robert Venner, managing partner of Sedgemoor Livestock Market, said: “It’s an unfortunate incident and a very rare event. We don’t want our staff being injured and we take every precaution we can.

“We take health a safety very seriously. It’s just livestock are livestock and we have to be very careful.”

“It was unclear at the time what the extent of his injuries was so we took extreme precaution - better safe than sorry.”
