CHILDREN and staff at Cannington Primary School held a ‘wellie day’ in support of the Somerset Flood Appeal.

The children at the school and|pre-school wore their wellies to school and made a collection in support of the appeal fund.

Some of the children in Beech class also organised a cake sale for the whole school to enjoy.

Everyone was able to go to the hall to choose cakes from the wide selection made by the children and their families.

Deputy head teacher David Frowde said: “We have been talking about the seriousness of the flooding on the Somerset Levels in class and in our assemblies, and the children were all keen to do something to help.

“The children used their initiative to think of ways they could make a difference. We are all really proud of their efforts and grateful to the fantastic support we have from our parents, especially with the cake baking.”
