PEOPLE in Wilstock have managed to stop the Royal Mail from uprooting their Georgian pillar box.
The Royal Mail was going to move the post box from the centre of Wilstock into Stockmoor half a mile away.
After complaints from the people of Wilstock, the Royal Mail agreed to site a new postbox in Stockmoor and leave the one in Wilstock intact.
Helen Phillips, chair of Stockmoor and Wilstock Residents Association, said: “The Royal Mail manager said people don’t tend to send letters now days – one of reasons they wanted to remove our lovely pillar box.
“No-one could understand why they would do that as it was a well used and popular landmark.”
