A TERRITORIAL Army Lance Corporal and Bridgwater cheese-maker is on a mission to encourage people to enjoy well-balanced meals.

Father of three Steve Jefcoate has worked at Cricketer Farm in Bridgwater for over 12 years, making his way through the cheese ranks from cheese-maker to dairy supervisor.

As reported, new figures have revealed almost 75% of people in Sedgemoor are overweight or obese and the Red Tractor Assured Cricketer Farm is an official partner of the Department of Health’s Change 4 Life ‘Smart Swaps’ campaign, under the Cheeky Cow brand.

Steve says the key to good health is a well-balanced and varied diet that always includes dairy, good carbohydrates and lots of protein.

Culinary development and wellness advisor, Ray Lorimer, develops healthy cheeses at the farm. He said: “Don’t forget the exercise - it doesn’t have to be running or something you don’t enjoy, but try and build that in, as it is so important.

“If you have some spare time and are looking to do something different, why not consider joining the new Defence Force - a great opportunity to travel and exercise and get paid. I did the fulltime equivalent for 27 years and thoroughly enjoyed it.”
