Having got caught up in all this yesterday, the diversion through Woolavington and back out at Moon Cottage worked well apart from that the police do not seem to be able to work outside of their own 'box'. At Moon Cottage junction, they were turning the 40 ton plus HGV's around and sending them back towards Street. With modern communications, surely they could have had another officer at the Pipers junction to direct HGV's down the Taunton road through WestonZoyland?
Each time there is a road closure on the A39, the police fail to close all the loops. At least this time they did not send them down through the Polden villages like they have previously.
