POLICE say an incident in which an object was set on fire and pushed through the letterbox of a Bridgwater home could have had “very serious consequences”.

The incident happened at about 6.45pm on Thursday, January 30 at a house in Loxleigh Avenue, while a 32-year-old woman and a one-year-old boy were inside.

Investigating officer detective constable Jamie Bullivant said: “It was very fortunate the occupant saw the object being pushed through the door. She managed to run downstairs and put out the flames with a damp towel.

“This could easily have had very serious consequences and I would like to appeal to anyone who saw a person or people acting suspiciously in the Loxleigh Avenue area around the time of the incident to come forward.”

If you saw or heard anything which could assist the investigation, call Det Con Jamie Bullivant via the 24-hour non-emergency number 101.
