THE principal of Bridgwater’s newest primary school has been announced.

Nick Riddiough will lead the new Primary Academy which will open in North East Bridgwater this September.

Before accepting this role, Nick was head teacher at Court de Wyck Primary School in North Somerset and has taught in a range of primary schools.

Nick told the Mercury: “I am very proud to have been selected to lead this exciting and unique academy.

“It is a fantastic opportunity to make the Academy an outstanding centre of learning and a school that the local community can be really proud of.

“I am working with colleagues from The Collaborative Academies Trust (CAT) to develop the Academy vision, and am looking forward to meeting more members of the community in the near future to explore how we can best serve their needs.

“Most of all, I am looking forward to opening the doors in September and welcoming the children into an exceptional academy.”

The proposed Academy will open in September 2014 and will be built in two phases.

In the first year of operation, the Academy will open with places for 150 children from Reception to Year 4 and a nursery provision of 24 places.

Kevin Crossley, chief education and operations officer of CAT, said: “We are extremely pleased to have appointed Nick as the principal.

“He brings with him an excellent track record in primary education and his local knowledge; experience and insight will be a valuable asset to everyone involved with our new Academy.”
