PETER Andre and Taunton girl Emily MacDonagh announced their engagement today (January 27).

The happy couple also revealed what happened on the day of their birth, including a four-hour dash to Musgrove Park Hospital, in an exclusive interview with OK! Magazine.

Speaking to the national magazine, former Richard Huish College student Emily, 24, said: "I’m proud of myself for getting through it. I pulled a lot of Pete’s hair out, but he’s got enough to spare.

“I was so happy she was healthy, it was amazing. I was looking at her perfect form and little fingernails. I kept thinking, how did we make that?”

Emily, who also played hockey for Taunton Vale Hockey Club, also confessed to the magazine that Peter's proposal was a complete shock and left her in tears.

Bridgwater Mercury:

Peter and Emily welcomed their little girl at 3pm on January 7, nicknamed Bista's sister, into the world at Musgrove Park Hospital in Taunton.

They are yet to release a name for their child.

Around 100,000 people have viewed the County Gazette's coverage of the couple's birth and nickname for their daughter.

Peter, 40, and Emily are no strangers to Taunton when the pair met through Emily's surgeon father Dr Ruaraidh ‘Ru’ MacDonagh, who operated on Peter in 2010 to remove his kidney stones.

The British and Australian pop star said despite the sleepness nights, he is not bothered because of the excitement.

Speaking after the birth of their baby girl, Peter said: "We are looking forward to a nice quiet couple of weeks getting to know our baby.

"Thanks to everyone at Musgrove Park."
