SPORTS students at Bridgwater College swapped the sports field for the kitchen, as their culinary skills were put to the test as part of their careers day.
With a budget of less than one pound, the Level 3 sports students aimed to prepare nutritious and delicious meals and thereby develop their skills in the kitchen, in preparation for leaving home to study at university.
Each group of students was given 30 minutes to prepare and cook a range of meals, including spaghetti bolognese, sweet and sour meatballs and a vegetable bake.
With aspirations to pursue careers in teaching, physiotherapy, and personal training, the students also attended an interview workshop, and were given some tips on managing their finances.
Kevin Smokcum, Bridgwater College Chef and Lecturer, said: “I was really impressed with the students' culinary and presentation skills, as well as their teamwork. They produced some very pleasant meals.”
