STUDENTS from Robert Blake Science College headed to Taunton School for a “Lab Live” event, which featured some fascinating demonstrations bringing science to life.
Here, Drew Dennehy, from class 8KD, gives his report on the day.
“The show was set in a colossal sports hall at Taunton School.
“There were loads of students all packed in sitting in rows. The EDF Energy logo was projected on one of the walls.
“Firstly there was a chemistry show that started with the scientist talking about a fascination with fire that he had since a young age.
“He then showed us a series of experiments before making an ear-exploding bang by lighting a hydrogen and oxygen balloon – the whole hall jumped.
“The next part of the show was about the magic of maths and the mathematician did some majestic maths tricks.
“He started by making a piece of string longer and shorter. After that he showed us other maths tricks that could be practiced at home.
“Finally we all left the building and climbed on to the coach for the short ride back to school.”
