Bridgwater College students visit the world of work
NINE Bridgwater College students visited businesses to find out about the skills and qualities people need to work successfully.
The entry level students, from Learning for Life and Work, visited businesses including Domino’s, Byron Wynn Autos and H Samuel, and took turns to ask questions such as ‘What is the best part of your job?’, ‘What are three tasks you have to do?’ and ‘What are three qualities you need to do your job?’.
The students were then required to talk to the rest of their class about what they had discovered.
Mandi Gardner, work placement co-ordinator at Bridgwater College, said: “Visits to workplaces like these are a great way to supplement our classroom work.
“It’s been very beneficial to the students to see what qualities are needed in the workplace first hand from the employers, and what they need to work harder on.
“It’s also a good way for the students to practise their communication skills and learn how to present themselves in a professional manner.
“The employers we visited also benefitted from the opportunity to see how the college prepares its entry level students for the world of work.”
