Bridgwater schools set to strike - is your school affected?
MANY schools in the Bridgwater are expected to be closed or partially closed on Thursday (October 17), when teachers go on strike.
Somerset County Council has announced which schools have registered to be closed, open or partially closed during the strike over pay, pensions and working conditions.
Schools that have announced they will be fully closed include Elmwood and Penrose Schools, Somerset Bridge Primary School and Westover Green School.
In a letter to parents Karen Canham, head teacher of Haygrove, said: “We have assessed the impact of this action on the effective and safe running of the school on that day and concluded that we have no option but to close the school for all students, with the exception of Year 11.
“The year 11 Parents’ Evening has been rescheduled for October 16. Year 11 parents will receive a further letter explaining the arrangements.
“We apologise for any inconvenience that this may cause you.”
