DOCTORS in Sedgemoor can now prescribe self-help books as part of a patient's treatment to improve their mental health.
The Reading Well Books on Prescription Scheme, launched by Somerset Library Service, would see libraries stock a list of more than 30 titles.
Louise Finnis, SCC Health Promotion Manager, said: “Self-help reading can help people with common mental health conditions, such as anxiety and depression.”
For a full list visit www.somerset.gov.uk/booksonprescription.
All the books will be available to reserve and borrow from local libraries or online via www.librarieswest.org.uk.
The scheme will coincide with World Mental Health Day on October 10.
