A CRICKETER from Bridgwater has raised around £10,000 for a cancer charity in memory of his mum.
Stuart Butt, who plays for Bridgwater Cricket Club, and his team of ten cyclists rode 400 miles from Haddington, in Scotland, to Bridgwater to raise funds for Cancer Research UK.
The charity is one close to his heart and Stuart dedicated the cycle ride and money raised to his mum Patricia Butt, who died of breast cancer in 2003.
Pat was born in Haddington and members of the Butt family still live there.
Money was also raised thanks to an evening event at Bridgwater Rugby Club where there was music, dancing and a raffle.
In total, donations reached around £8,500 but Keith Fishlock, from Cancer Research Bridgwater Group, said with gift aid donations could reach £10,000.
