9:21am Friday 30th August 2013 in News
TAUNTON Deane MP Jeremy Browne voted in favour of possible UK military action in Syria.
The Home Office minister was in the House of Commons yesterday (August 29) to vote on a Government motion to intervene in the troubled country.
Yeovil MP David Laws also supported the motion but MPs rejected any possible action by 285 votes to 272.
Protestors demonstrated outside the Houses of Parliament in Westminster as MPs debated the crisis.
Prime Minister David Cameron called for a military response in Syria following a suspected chemical weapons attack in Damascus last week, which killed hundreds of people.
Downing Street and the White House have blamed Syrian president Bashar al-Assad for the attack, which he denies.
