Make a Will Week with St Margarets Hospice
3:30pm Wednesday 14th August 2013 in News
ST MARGARETS Hospice is holding a Will Week to encourage people to plan for their future.
Only three in 10 people in the UK have a will. Last year the Treasury gained £53m from people who died without making a will; the year before it was £76m.
Every year St Margaret’s Hospice works with local solicitors across the County to hold a Will Week. During this week some 20 firms of Solicitors with 38 offices will offer their services for free to help people make their wills in exchange for a small donation to the Hospice.
At the hospice they see daily the distress that not making a will in time can have, not only on those who have a short time to live, but also the families that are left behind. The nature of modern families and an increasingly litigious society means making a will has never been so important.
Teresa Wort from the hospice said: "Make a Will Week is being held from September 9-13 and you will be able to take advantage of the opportunity to ensure that your wishes are known and carried out.
“You will also likely save some money on your Will whilst your kind donation will help us to support and care for individuals who are affected by a life limiting illness. Please don't put it off until tomorrow, call one of our solicitors today and make your appointment for September – there are only limited places."
Suggested donations are £75 for a single will, pair of mirror wills £110 and codicil to update an existing will £40.
