ENTRIES are now open for a spectacular Dragon Boat Race which will take place on the River Tone in Taunton this summer.

The race, run by Headway Somerset, is a chance for other Somerset charities and not-for-profit groups such as schools, sports clubs, PTAs, Scouts and youth clubs to enter teams and raise funds for their own cause.

Alison Mills, fundraising manager for Headway Somerset, said: “We see this as a wonderful opportunity to reach out to all of Somerset ensuring that any monies raised remain in county thereby reinforcing the community spirit which is the essence of the race.

“The Dragon Boat Race is ideal for both experienced crews and complete beginners alike.

“People do not have to be fitness fanatics or marathon runners to compete - it's about timing and teamwork.

“From the sponsorship raised by the teams 50% will go to Headway Somerset and 50% to a Somerset charity or not for profit group of the team's choice.”
