THERE was an extra buzz around a Bridgwater auction house - when the BBC's Flog It! team paid a visit.

Presenter Paul Martin and the crew from the popular BBC Two show visited Tamlyns in Market Street this week.

They brought with them items from a valuation day in February at the Fleet Air Arm Museum in Yeovilton.

It was the Flog It! team's second visit to Tamlyns in the past two years, and auctioneer Claire Rawle said the day had been a real success.

She said: “It went extremely well. We had a very good sale - one of our best to date.

“We had a couple of items that made a lot of money.

“We had a very nice carved ivory Japanese dragon, which shot through the roof - it went for £13,000.

“One of their contributors also brought a very nice Japanese sword. That went for £3,000, and the asking price was £2,000 so they were very pleased.”

The show is likely to air in the summer.

Claire added: “We had the Flog It! team down two years ago.

“It's always good fun and they always bring some nice things down to sell.

“Some customers don't like it because they don't want to be on the camera but by and large people really enjoy it.

“We did have a few extra local people from Bridgwater and I'm sure they'll be watching when the show is aired to try to see themselves on TV!”
