Nether Stowey housing development is a concern for schoolchildren

A DEVELOPMENT of 20 affordable homes on farmland on the edge of Nether Stowey should be given the go-ahead, a report says.

Twenty people have written to object to SHAL Housing’s plans for flats and houses at Stogursey Lane.

Objectors say there are poor walking links from the site to the heart of the village, with particular concern about schoolchildren having to cross the busy A39.

A report for Tuesday's meeting of Sedgemoor District Council’s development control committee says housing developments outside a built-up area are not normally allowed, but an exception should be made to meet a proven need for more affordable homes in Nether Stowey.

It's ok then for poorer Schoolchildren to risk their lives, to cross the road at a very busy junction, on the A39?

What is so difficult in using the traffic lights that are at the junction to cross the A39.

I think there has been more accidents at at junction since the traffic lights have been installed, than in all the years prior to the lights

So take the lights away then and let the kids take their chance.
