A MAJOR battle against drug crime has led to two arrests after police swooped on a property in Bridgwater.

Officers carried out a search warrant on January 23 under the Misuse of Drugs Act after receiving a tip-off from the UK Border Agency.

A police spokesman said: “Police were informed of a seizure of Ketamine by the UK Border Agency, intended for an address in Bridgwater.

“Officers then carried out a search warrant at the intended address, seizing further suspected drugs including MDMA, LSD, Cannabis and further amounts of Ketamine.”

A 20-year-old man and a 19-year-old woman were arrested from the address on suspicion of importing a controlled drug and possession with intent to supply a Class A drug.

They have been released on bail pending further investigation and forensic testing.

The warrant was just one of many carried out across Somerset West that week by the Operation Grip team.

Acting Sergeant Jon O'Connor, from Operation Grip, said: “We will continue to systematically disrupt individuals dealing drugs within our communities, stripping them of their proceeds and ensuring offenders are brought to justice.”
