Vehicles are often turning right from the Clink into East Quay/Wylds Road after the lights have turned red (because they have passed the lights waiting to turn right) and the green phase for pedestrians is active.
Admittedly this may not be the case here but the lights really do need a right filter arrow for this manouvere, it's 'an accident waiting to happen'

Not suprising at this junction.

Look like the lorry turned right after coming from the asda direction and hit the person as they were crossing the clink crossing. Those crossing lights don't last long enough and they go red as you get half way across.
The photo makes my comment about the lights irrelevant for this incident but still stands overall.

The pedestrian green light comes after the green phase from sainsburies to police station and vice-versa, the green phase from halfords to Wyldes road is the phase after Wyldes road to halfords. When the pedestrian green phase is active all traffic is on red so it should be impossible for a car to hit a pedestrian if everyone obeys the light sequence.

2.The second point @ the end of the article, States the Police, are not pursuing the Lorry Driver further. So this Unfortunatly leads to the Pedestrian, being the erring party. As I said, I wish him well and hope he makes a speedy recovery. There Unfortunatly has to be a party responsible for this Tragic accident, which it was. No one could have foreseen it happening!
