New business awards launched
A SCHEME which rewards businesses for their success is being sponsored by Sedgemoor District Council.
The Sedgemoor Business Awards of Excellence has been set up by Bridgwater Chamber of Commerce, in conjunction with Pardoes Solicitors and Bridgwater College, to help increase economic growth.
Anne Fraser, portfolio holder for Economic Strategy at Sedgemoor District Council said: “This is a fantastic opportunity to celebrate and recognise the variety of businesses and employment opportunities in the area.
“We look forward to the occasion and highlighting some of Sedgemoor's diverse businesses.”
Some of the categories include Green Business of the Year, Best International Trader and Best Small Business.
François Bitten, from Gemini Computers in The Avenue, welcomed the scheme. He told the Mercury: “It could help shed more attention on local traders.
“It’s hard for everyone at the moment and people really need to support their independent shops.”
Jennifer Evans, retail marketing manager for Pardoes Solicitors, said: “Within the business community in Sedgemoor there are many success stories which rarely get the credit they deserve.”
The inaugural Awards Ceremony will take place in Bridgwater College’s new facility, the Energy Skills Centre on Thursday, March 21.
Entries must be submitted before 5pm on February 8. For more information call Jennifer Evans at Pardoes on 01823-446230, email info@sedgemoorbusinessawards.co.uk or visit www.sedgemoorbusinessawards.co.uk.
