A VIBRANT evening celebrating Bridgwater’s learning community saw a host of awards dished out to staff and students.

The event at the Canalside Centre culminated in schools, pupil referral units and Bridgwater College receiving awards for outstanding achievements.

Entertainment for the evening, organised by Bridgwater Education Trust in conjunction with Futures for Somerset, included dazzling performances from young people, showcasing singing, dancing and music.

Student Scott Kilday from Bridgwater College Academy, who produced an article for Futures for Somerset’s newsletter, said: “Everybody involved should feel a great sense of achievement.

“It will be an evening that will be etched into everyone’s minds for a long time to come.”

In addition to the Trust awards, there were six sponsored awards, which are to act as an ongoing legacy for Bridgwater’s learning community.

Julie Walker, education integration manager, Futures for Somerset, said: “It was an evening that makes you so proud to be part of the learning community of Bridgwater – the young people were outstanding.”
