A GARDENING event has raised more than £600 for charity.
The annual plant exchange event at Moor Plants in Ashcott raised at total of £650 for St Margaret’s Hospice.
The event was titled Lift and Divide, with reference to an autumnal gardening task, and funds were generated from the sale of donated surplus plants.
Sue Medlicott, community fundraiser for St Margaret’s Hospice said: “We are very grateful to all the gardeners who braved the rain and wind to dig up donations for this event.
“Our loyal volunteers gave them a warm welcome with homemade refreshments and Gilly and Jenny, owners of Moor Plants, were on hand to answer horticultural questions.”
Donated composted horse manure is still being sold at Moor Plants and profits from this will be added to the total.
The cash will pay for ten home visits by Glastonbury-based St Margaret’s Community Nurses.
