Trumpeters keep on winning in Summer Skittles League
TRUMPETERS have three wins from three in the Bridgwater & District Summer Skittles League mixed Bluebell Division after a 51-pin victory over Wish We Waz last week.
A point behind are The Snoots, who were 21 down on the first hand against Pretenders, but won with a fifth-hand 56. Two teams without a point met at the Globe Inn, Cannington, and Legion Louts broke their duck with a 21-pin win over the Rejects.
Choppers are the only unbeaten team in the mixed Blondes after they beat Pointless Parretts by 35 at home. Barmies needed 44 to beat Rebellions and got 47 tobe second. Pin Pals got off the mark with a 30-pin win at Good Bunch.
The only unbeaten team in the mixed Brunettes are Shunters, after a 19-pin away victory over Glad We've Arms. Faux Pas lost for the first time in a see-saw match away to Railway Six. The Six hit their highest of the night on the last hand, thanks to 15s from Tim Lawrence and Allan Cavill, leaving the visitors to get 57, but they hit only 46.
Faux Pas are joint second with Mixtures, who had an 11-pin win at home to point-less Nam Nuts.
In the mixed Primrose, unbeaten champions Commercial A beat Sagalouts by 33 at home, while Mad Hatters also have yet to lose after a home victory over Jacks & Jills. Misfits earned their first points.
Limeys stayed unbeaten in the men's Premier after a 25-pin win over visitors Old Teasers. Daydreamers beat alleymates Union Jacks by 18 "away" to be joint second with Wanderers, Gentle Giants and Fireworks.
In the men's Early, Riff Raff lost for the first time, by 16 at home to Terry's Lot, and have been joined at the top by champions Outs & Ins, 24-pin winners away to Five o'Clockers. Folly Boys are unbeaten, third with two games in hand, while Withy Wanderers opened their account by beating Wellworthy Colts.
Flintstones and Pawlett Pins are the only unbeaten teams in the men's Main. Stones were 13 up going into the last, but had only one pin to spare away to champions Gamblers. Pins had won by 19 at Bunch of Key'unts. Carol's Barmy Army got off the mark by beating Cannington Chemistry.
In the ladies' Champions, leaders Market Maids made it five wins in a row as they beat Bill's Bunch by 31 at the Lions Club. Alison Skinner was the match-winner for champions Arf Dozen with a 14 on the last hand as they beat Poppy Girls by ten to remain second. Housemaids, behind for the first three hands, beat visitors Legion Ladies by seven to stay third.
Piglets top the ladies' Pearls after a 17-pin home win over Railway Belles, who drop to joint third. Daff's Dollies went second by beating Rockets, who have gone four games without a point. Nine down going into the last hand, Spares needed 45 to beat home team The British Birds and thanks to a 17 flopper from Pam Weston, got them to be joint second.
A 41-pin away win over Spring Chicks kept Flopperettes unbeaten in the ladies' Emeralds. Mothers Pride went second with a 33-pin away success against Nutcrackers. Die Hards broke their duck, beating Flagettes by two at home.
The only 100% team in the ladies' Diamonds are Cheeky Girls, who beat Slappers by 14 at home. Reservoir Ducks and Blue Jeans are joint second after both won away. Durleigh Dolls were victorious for the first time since the opening match when they beat Cross Rifles by 17 at the West India House. Babes in Arms are still not off the mark after a two-pin home defeat by Pretty Pollies.
Joint top of the ladies' Rubies are Wicked Ladies and Otters, both unbeaten. The Ladies won by 49 at home to Geef Teeth, who remain third. Otters were 29 up after two hands at home to The Other Lot but won by only six, Sue Thomas (65) topping the alley. Global Girls won for the first time, by 20 at home to Pink Ladies
