Sixteen-year-olds edge Middlezoy to victory

Somerset League Div Four: Middlezoy (32) 124-9 bt Tintinhull (15) 122 by 1 wkt

FIELDING six 16-year-olds and still without injured skipper Nathan Barnard, Middlezoy scraped a home victory on Saturday with their last pair at the wicket.

In a tight match which featured good bowling, the home side dismissed Tintinhull for 122. Jimmy Melmoth, one of the 16-year-olds, took 2-29 in five overs, Ben Warren, who is the same age, 4-35 in ten and Scott Clapp 2-15 in 8.3.

Middlezoy's batting also struggled, but they were held together by a sound knock of 36 from James Lacey. Charlie Parsons was next best with 12.

All-rounder Barnard, aged 22, who has had a hernia op, won't be back for another two or three weeks.
