FIREFIGHTERS believe a blaze at a former gym in Bridgwater last night (Wednesday) was arson.
Two fire crews from Bridgwater were called out at 7.25pm to extinguish a rubbish fire in the derelict Cranleigh Annexe, at Cranleigh Gardens, in Eastover Park.
Devon and Somerset Fire and Rescue Service spokeswoman Janet Booth told the Mercury: "The blaze was put out within 20 minutes of us getting the call.
"It looks like the fire was arson."
Sedgemoor District Council had already begun demolishing the building this week as part of plans to develop the area.

i think its disgraceful the way that these vandals are allowed to do such a thing. i have seen all this activity going on and i know for a fact its by the same troublemakers. they call themselves the 'NEW AGE VANDALZ' and there graffiti art is all over cranleign gardens and the bridgwater area.Inmy mind their graffiti is rather nice looking and obviouslytakes a certainammountof skill but this does not mean that the illegality of this act goes away. i believe we should stop these hooligans as they are obviously a threat to our society and insome cases, even our lives
