AT last month's meeting of the Dyslexia Association, a young graphic designer described how he had overcome the difficulties and drawn upon the gifts and strengths his dyslexia had brought.
Ian first started attending meetings when he was a student and based his final exhibition on ways of raising awareness of dyslexia. Examples of designs he had made were enjoyed by all, especially a pin ball machine showing the left and right hemispheres of the brain!
A social evening, where people can meet for just a chat, or talk to someone about the way dyslexia is affecting them, will be held on April 26 at The Falcon Hotel, Henlade.
A variety of resources will be on view and dyslexia identity cards will be available for any people who require them. It is also possible to see demonstrations of computer programmes, such as text readers and voice recognition software.
For more information about the group, call James on 01823 272460. Partners and friends are most welcome and membership and booking is not necessary.
