About this neighbourhood

map

This beat covers the villages along the King's Isle belt of Somerset, including Chedzoy and the larger villages of Westonzoyland, Middlezoy and Othery. It also encompasses the large town of North Petherton and the surrounding villages of North Newton, Huntworth, Moorland and East and West Lyng. The area is very diverse, with the large township of North Petherton having a large residential population and many businesses and local facilities, including connections to the M5 motorway and the Junction 24 business centre and dairy farm. The main A38 runs through the middle, taking commuters towards Taunton. Westonzoyland is a historically important village and is proud to be known as host to the last battle on British soil, The Battle of Sedgemoor. It is also quite a densely populated village with a popular school and active Church. It is serviced by the busy A372. On the other hand this beat has many villages and hamlets with only a handful of houses and farms to their name.

The force responsible for policing and crime prevention in this area is Avon and Somerset Constabulary.
