STRODE Theatre is opening its season of screenings from the National Theatre with the stage adaptation of Mark Haddon’s multi-award-winning best-seller The Curious Incident of the Dog in the Night-Time.
Christopher, 15, stands beside their neighbour Mrs Shears’ dead dog, Wellington. It has been speared with a garden fork.
It’s seven minutes after midnight and Christopher is under suspicion. He records each fact in his book to solve the mystery. He has an extraordinary brain, is exceptional at maths but is ill-equipped to interpret everyday life.
He has never ventured alone beyond the end of his road, he detests being touched and he distrusts strangers. But his detective work, forbidden by his father, takes him on a frightening journey that upturns his world.
Luke Treadaway’s performance as Christopher has earned rave reviews for his sensitive, moving portrayal of a young man fighting his fear of an unpredictable world in pursuit of his detective mission, while Paul Ritter and
Nicola Walker have equally garnered high praise in the roles of Christopher’s conflicted parents.
This screening will be coming live from the Cottesloe and is being shown with an introduction and one interval.
The Curious Incident of the Dog in the Night-Time will be transmitted live from the National Theatre to the Strode Theatre screen on Thursday, September 6 at 7pm.
