AN outstanding young oboist praised by the world-famous conductor Sir Simon Rattle is to perform at Cossington village hall on Saturday at 7.30pm.
Peter Facer will be joined by pianist James Sherlock in a mixed programme of music ranging from Handel to Britten and ending with a Blues composition.
Facer, considered one of the most talented oboists of his generation, has just been reselected to perform with the European Union Youth Orchestra as one of only a dozen Britons among the 120 chosen musicians.
Proceeds of the recital, sponsored by the Countess of Munster Musical Trust Recital Scheme, will support the work of Cossington Concerts’ Fund for Young Musicians.

Day of live music A charity music event will be held at The Old Pier Tavern in Burnham from 2pm until late on Sunday, June 3, featuring several local bands including EasterTown, The Tri-sexual Winkers and Nick Elswood.
Admission is £5 on the door with proceeds to Stop the Traffick, a global charity campaigning to stop child trafficking and prosecute traffickers (for more information visit stopthetraffik.org/takeaction/chocolate)
