FOLLOWING last year’s cabaret evening and jazz event, the Strode Theatre’s fundraising events continue with a second Jazz in the Bar event on Friday (February 17) featuring The Pendarves Jenkins Combination.

The band formed two years ago as a duo consisting of singer Amie Pendarves and pianist Richard Jenkins, both former Strode College students.

Having met up again through the Wells Jazz Collective, the pair began performing together, first dabbling in jazz standards before gradually adding pop songs and original compositions to their repertoire, all the while developing a soulful sound they could call their own.

Now Amie and Rich have expanded into a quartet, adding bass and drums to complete the line-up.

The band is increasingly exploring new compositions which recall many influences from modern jazz and neo-soul to pop and Motown.

Tickets for the event cost £10, with all proceeds going to the Friends of Strode Theatre.
