AWARD-winning band The Outside Track are set to take Somerset by storm when they perform at Bridgwater Arts Centre on Thursday, Feb 2.
Fresh from sell-out tours of Canada, the USA, and Germany, the band will perform their marriage of Canadian, Scottish and Irish music, song and dance at 8pm. The band is touring the UK in preparation for recording their third album later in February.
The Outside Track started 2012 in style, winning the Live Ireland Award for Best Instrumental/Vocal Group of 2012 where they were described as: “traditional, creative, and brilliant on every cut”.
Lead singer Norah Rendell also won the prestigious accolade of Vocalist of the Year.
Hailing from Scotland, Ireland, Cape Breton and Vancouver, the five members of The Outside Track are united by a love of traditional music and a commitment to creating new sounds on a traditional foundation. The band features Norah Rendell from Vancouver on lead vocals and flute, Edinburgh-based Ailie Robertson on harp, Fiona Black from Evanton in the Scottish Highlands on accordion, Cillian Ó’Dálaigh from Limerick, Ireland on guitar, vocals and dance and Cape Breton native Mairi Rankin on fiddle, vocals and dance.
Tickets for the concert priced £14 and £12 for concessions are available in person from Bridgwater Arts Centre or on 01278-422700 or online at wegottickets.com
