Motown evening at The Playhouse


LISTEN to the original sounds of Motown at The Playhouse in Weston on Saturday with a soul-packed set of classics.

Celebrating 50 years of the genre, Motown on Tour will feature the soothing sounds of The Supremes, Martha Reeves and the Vandellas, The Four Tops, The Temptations, Marvin Gaye, The Jacksons, Stevie Wonder and Lionel Ritchie.

Front man Roy G Hemmings is the longest serving member of The Drifters, and has appeared at prestigious venues around the world, including a memorable performance at the White House for the then president Bill Clinton.

Under the musical direction of acclaimed arranger and saxophonist Anna Brooks, the seven-piece Dictionary of Soul band will provide the accompaniment for this live show, which boasts 14 people on stage who portray the thumping beat of the Motown dream.

Classic hits such as Baby Love, My Girl, I Can't Help Myself, I Heard It Through The Grapevine, Reach Out and Dancing In The Street should get the audience dancing in their seats.

The event starts at 7.30pm. Tickets are £19.50 and £18.50 from the box office on 01934-645544.
