THE talented cast of Bridgwater Amateur Operatic Society are well into their rehearsals for the musical masterpiece, Jesus Christ Superstar.
Amateur rights to the Tim Rice and Andrew Lloyd Webber are limited, so the society is excited to be involved with the demanding production.
The rock opera - based around the last seven days Jesus spent on earth - will run from April 20 to 24 and feature a sea of familiar operatic faces.
Matt Bell, Ben Filler and Jo-anne Taylor take on the leading roles of Jesus, Judas and Mary Magdelyn, with Alan Coles as Pontius Pilate, James Tucker as Herod and Darren Oxman as Simon Zeolotes.
Brian Sands and Andy Meek will play the roles of the chief priests Caiaphus and Annas.
Memorable songs woven into the script include I don't know how to love Him, Hosanna, Everything's Alright, What's the buzz?, Superstar and Heaven on Their Mind.
Director Alan Calaminus, choreographer Shelley Smith and musical director Tony Pomeroy will be working hard to make sure the show is another success for the society.
Tickets for the Bridgwater Town Hall show will be on sale at Angel Place on March 26 and 27 and April 3, 9, 10 and 17 between 10am and 1pm or from the box office on 01278-662181.
