Cannon gig a success in Bridgwater

THE Dubliners lead singer and guitarist Sean Cannon together with his talented son James performed a wonderful concert before a sell-out audience at Bridgwater Arts Centre.

Event host Roger Collett said afterwards that the evening had seen an Irish gem enthralling his audience with renditions of ever popular raucous Irish songs, soft ballads, works of Robbie Burns and lesser known song writers plus amusing ditties and drole jokes.

Son James fashioned the music of Johnny Cash and Hank Williams and delightfully complemented Sean with his fine voice and expert guitar playing.

This whole compilation was played with the usual dose of Irish passion and charm. The entertainment ended with a tremendous rendering of Molly Malone in which local band Diaspora, who had earlier provided impressive support, joined Sean and James for the finale to a wonderful evening.

A collection was made on behalf of Penrose School and Sean has already promised Roger that they will return to the South-West in 2010.
