BRITISH comedy heavyweight Lenny Henry will impart his wit and wisdom on Weston this week - as the performer turns role model for students at Weston College.
Henry is performing his stand-up at The Playhouse Theatre in Weston on November 11 but will visit Weston College's new University Campus to talk to students the following day.
The funnyman, who has enjoyed decades of success on television comedy sketch shows and as a straight actor, brings his new tour to Weston with a mix of stand-up and character comedy.
Lenny will then explore the new facilities at the Weston College's University Campus, stopping to speak to students and staff about his life and education.
He will also work with Broadcast Media students in the college's TV studio.
The performer has achieved a role model status throughout a career which has combined comedy with charity and education.
His involvement in charity work has seen him host Comic Relief and present films from overseas charity projects.
The comedian also completed an Open University degree in English literature in April this year.
Commenting on the visit, college principal Dr Paul Phillips said: "We are all really excited about Lenny's visit.
"I am delighted that, while he is in Weston, he has agreed to visit us and celebrate the opening of our new university campus.
"As well as being one of Britain's best known and loved TV personalities, Lenny is a passionate supporter of education. "Having combined a successful career with charity work and studying for a degree, he will be a great role model for our students."
Lenny stands-up at The Playhouse Theatre in Weston at 7.30pm and tickets cost £22.50. For more information ring the box office on 01934-645544.
