HE'S BEHIND YOU!

Bridgwater Pantomime Society is gearing up for another busy schedule as it celebrates 60 years of providing top class entertainment for the town's residents.

This year's performance is of Cinderella, and will be performed every night barring Monday throughout next week.

The society was initially founded in May 1957, and it was decided to make each pantomime as home grown as possible. When it is decided which Pantomime will be staged, all the society has is a name.

From there a synopsis of scenes is created, characters decided, a script written, scenery designed, constructed and painted.

Then costumes are made, music sorted and orchestrated, dance routine discussed with the choreographer and all this before auditions are held.

The first pantomime staged at the Town Hall in February 1958 was Aladdin, and the Society is delighted that Cinderella, one of the best loved fairytales, is the choice for the anniversary production.

Auditions were held in July and a cast of more than 50 have been rehearsing since October.

In the title role of Cinderella is Zoe Pike. Prince Charming will be played by Kimberley Priddle and Lauren Singleton is Dandini. The Baron Hardup is Richard J. Porter and the Wicked Stepmother – Baroness Hardup is Lindsey Stone.

The lovable but also hateful Ugly Sisters are Caterina, Keith Robinson and Tatiana, Ken Stone with Jordan Hill as Buttons and Margaret Robinson as the Fairy Godmother.

The pantomime has been written by Keith and Margaret Robinson who also produce and direct and are ably assisted by Richard J. Porter.

Choreography is done by Fiona Wheeler, Margaret Robinson is in charge of chorus and company singing and musical direction is under the supervision of Joe Moretti.

Stage Manager is Ian Quinn.

The Box Office is open at the Carnival Museum from 10am until 1pm daily and will move to the Town Hall Box Office on Friday.
