FOUR giants of rock ‘n’ roll are brought together for one fantastic show called Be Bop A Lula at the Tacchi-Morris Arts Centre.

Eddie Cochran (Summertime Blues, C’mon Everybody, Three Steps to Heaven), Gene Vincent ( Be Bop A Lula, Blue Jean Bop, Say Mama), Roy Orbison (Pretty Woman, Only the Lonely, Running Scared) and Billy Fury (Halfway To Paradise, Wondrous Place, A Thousand Stars) are all rock icons that died before their time.

In this straight-from-the-West-End show, Gavin Stanley (Good Rockin Tonight, Rock ‘n’ Roll Paradise) and Lars Young (A Night of Orbison, Rock ‘n’ Roll Paradise), supported by their fabulous live band, recreate these four legends with passion, authenticity and sensitivity.

Gavin Stanley (performing as Eddie Cochran and Billy Fury)

Gavin started performing when he was just 12 years old and became professional at the age of 16, playing Gary Mitchell on Channel 4’s Brookside. Theatre productions of Macbeth (as Donalbain), Talent (as a performer) and a brief stint on Coronation Street (the lad who stole Kevin Webster’s job) followed. Gavin then auditioned for a show being produced by Bill Kenwright and the legendary Jack Good (famous for Oh Boy, 6-5 Special, and Shindig) and after singing Wondrous Place he gained the part of Billy Fury.

Another Bill Kenwright production followed called Ferry Cross The Mersey, in which Gavin played the young Gerry Marsden and actually ended up singing You’ll Never Walk Alone with the real Mr Marsden at the end of the show. Gavin then spent 5 years with the band, Pool, who released an album and three singles gaining international recognition and radio plays.

Lars Young (performing as Roy Orbison and Gene Vincent)

Lars' earliest memories are of singing around the piano the songs of The Carter Family, Patsy Cline, Johnny Cash and Elvis. Lars began performing at a young age as both musician and stage actor and his favourite roles include Judas in Jesus Christ Superstar, Riff Raff in Rocky Horror Show, Che in Evita and Roger in Rent. He has travelled all over America in several bands playing his own original music as well as classic country, rockabilly and rock ‘n’ roll.
