MICHAEL Martin is a painter and pianist from Bridgwater.

He also bakes excellent cakes and you can sample all three at a special concert at the parish church of Saint Mary the Virgin in Cannington.

"I did a painting a few years ago of my home in Bridgwater, called My House is a very nice House," explained Michael.

"I have lived here for twenty years and am very happy. It was built, by Pollards, in 1892 and, last year I realised how many other things I like also come from that era and thought it might make the theme for a concert.

"It will be a mélange of goodies, for piano and organ, originating in the last decade of the last century. I think people will find it an interesting and varied mix. It is fairly lighthearted and will range from serious music to ragtime and jazz."

Michael's concert will last around forty-five minutes without an interval. He also hopes to bring some home-made cakes with him including a lemon drizzle cake and perhaps a chocolate one as well.

Michael Martin, piano and organ. Sunday, May 29 at 3.30pm. £5 at the door only.
