WEST SOMERSET-based Chandos Society of Artists is holding an art swap on Thursday, February 18.

Art books, magazines and assorted art paraphernalia will be available to swop, sell, lend or borrow and guests are invited to bring along their own items.

Society chairman Ken Church said: “Everybody is invited to come to this light-hearted event whether they are a student, budding or established artist, historian or just have a love of art and creativity.

“We hope it will prove an interesting, stimulating and enjoyable way to spend a Friday evening.”

The open evening takes place in the atmospheric Backroom Bar at Bridgwater Arts Centre, Castle Street, starting at 7.30pm. Pizza will be on offer later, while music will be provided by local musicians.

The Chandos Society of Artists was founded in 1961 and is based in the Bridgwater Arts Centre in Somerset. Jean Rees rwa, who was the co-founder of the Arts Centre in 1946, was also a founder member of the Chandos Society of Artists and later became its Chairman.

The Society’s objective is to encourage the practice and appreciation of the visual arts. It is a catalyst for the betterment of the members’ skills and the public exposure of their work.
