A NEW and visually stimulating photography exhibition has opened at The Helicopter Museum in Weston.

Called Salvation, it features over 140 photographs taken at the famous aviation attraction over a six month period by photographer Miranda Litchfield.

The exhibition examines the aircraft at the museum (both on public display and those awaiting future restoration) from a unique intrinsic perspective using modern photographic techniques.

Accompanying the photographic exhibition is a display of various helicopter parts awaiting restoration in the future and an information board detailing the painstaking work undertaken by the museums volunteers to restore historical airframes for the education and enjoyment of future generations.

Said Miranda: "I set out to create an alternative photographic archive of helicopter character that will give the public a much closer look at the exhibits than they would normally expect.”

"This enables the viewer to effectively peel back the layers and look beneath the surface of these incredible machines.”

The exhibition runs at The Helicopter Museum until Easter 2016. The Museum is open Wednesday to Sunday each week and houses the world's largest collection of helicopters including the current World Speed Record Holder and two aircraft of the Queens Royal Flight.
