The Bridgwater Choral Society carols and Christmas music.

The combination of choir, carols, brass and children singing was pleasing and helped the audience ease into the festive mood and the choir looked bright, cheery and relaxed.

Through the evening we were in the capable hands of Iain Cooper the conductor and the accompanist John Bodiley. The choir and the Wallscourt Brass Quintet were well matched in volume and the brass added fullness to the arrangements and harmonies.

There was an interesting mix of well known and less usual works chosen and, as a tribute to the late Sir David Willcocks; several of the classic carol descants were included.

St Mary's Primary School Choir looked superb in their yellow tops and had a wonderful experience working with the Choral Society, especially in Away in a Manger.

The evening moved through medieval to modern with the quintet adding in some jazz and ragtime. There was a memorable and fun choir version of the Twelve Days of Christmas.

There really was something for everyone here and at a very reasonable price.
