YOU might know Wilko Johnson as a guitarist, as a major influence of the punk scene or as a scary villain on Game of Thrones.

Now the man of many faces and talents is the focus of a stunning new film, The Ecstasy of Wilko Johnson, at the McMillan Theatre in Bridgwater.

Directed by Julien Temple, the film follows Wilko after he is diagnosed with pancreatic cancer and given "perhaps 10 months to live." However, that diagnosis was changed and, much to the surprise of Wilko, he is somehow still alive.

Julien Temple will attend the McMillan Theatre on Friday, September 25, 7.30pm, for this special benefit screening of his film. He will introduce the film and take part in a question and answer session afterwards.

Ticket prices start from just £5 and all proceeds from ticket sales will be donated to the Teenage Cancer Trust and local facility, The Engine Room.

Anthony Bruton, The McMillan Theatre Manager said, “This film is only showing in a few selected cinemas and theatres, and we’re the only one in the South West, so it’s a great honour to be working with all the parties involved.”

Bridgwater College’s The McMillan Theatre has on-site free parking, disabled facilities and a bar area.

Tickets can be purchased online through www.mcmillantheatre.com or from the Box Office, 01278 556677.
