THE Princess Theatre Company’s latest production is an adaptation of William Shakespeare’s riotous comedy, Twelfth Night (or his alternative title: ‘What you will’).

When twins Viola and Sebastian both believe the other has perished, their journey takes them to Illyria where they encounter love, lust and mistaken identity, resulting in confusion, collusion, but ultimately as in Shakespeare comedy, a happy ending.

“We have brought Shakespeare’s Twelfth Night into the 1970s.”

Producer Kim Cook said: “Think bean bags, larva lamps and lots of cross-dressing.”

First-time audiences will enjoy Shakespeare’s story and may go back and read the original, whilst die hard Shakespeare fans will love the modern treatment said Rebecca Strickland who is playing Olivia.

Writer, Lewis Coleman explained: “It was quite a challenge adapting one of Shakespeare’s favourite comedies. I think we have achieved a really funny play which the audience will fully enjoy.”

Mike Murphy, who is playing Malvolio, said: “This role is proving enormous fun. I’m really looking forward to the performance and hope the audience love it as much as we do”.

Twelfth Night is playing for one night only at The Princess Theatre on Saturday, April 4, at 7.30pm.

Tickets are £6/£4 from the box office in person, by telephone on 01278-784464 or online at www.theprincesstheatre.co.uk
