BRIDGWATER Amateur Operatic Society will be putting on a performance of Hairspray in April ... but they need you!

Recent auditions have lead to the successful casting of most lead characters, such as Leah Farmer will play Tracy Turnblad, Kirby Warren will play Amber von Tussle and Natasha Green will play Motormouth Maybelle.

However the part of Seaweed remains uncast. This calls for a 16 to 30-year-old male to play the black American character and the society would like potential cast members to contact director James Tucker on 0773 490 8102.

Made famous by the 2007 film, the Tony award-winning and West End smash hit musical Hairspray brings to life the bubbly character of Tracy Turnblad and her love of dancing.

The pleasantly plump teenager dreams of becoming a star on the Corny Collins Dance Show and changing 1960s American Society’s attitude to racial segregation.

She just can’t keep her feet still and nor will you.

With an upbeat score of feelgood songs, rhythm and blues and sixties tunes including Good Morning Baltimore and You Can’t Stop the Beat this show is a must see event!

Bridgwater Amateur Operatic Society simply can’t wait to perform this bursting with life show so make sure you come and share the energy and fun of Hairspray – you just won’t be able to stop the beat!

Directing the production will be James Tucker, with Tony Pomeroy as the musical director and Katie Williams choreographing the show.

The performance will be staged from April 21-25 at Bridgwater Town Hall.

Tickets are from £10 to £16, available from the box office on 01278 662181 from February 9.
