WHETHER peonies are your passion or you have a penchant for potatoes, Bridgwater Flower Show will have it all on display next weekend.

Show secretary Jackie Sealey, who is gearing up for her 19th consecutive show, said the team usually expects between 600 and 700 entries.

“The Town Hall is bursting at the seams when it’s all out,” she said.

“We like to keep it fresh by bringing in new classes, and seeing what works.

“Also it really depends on the weather – last year was brilliant for vegetables but this year might be better for flowers.”

For Jackie, it’s the calm before the storm she’s looking forward to.

“On the Thursday evening, when we’ve got almost all the exhibits and I look down from the stage, I feel so proud. That’s my favourite time.”

The show opens from 1.30pm until 5pm on Friday, August 22, then from 10am until 3pm on Saturday, August 23, at Bridgwater Town Hall.

The show team is looking for more hands on deck to join its committee – to help out please call Jackie on 01278-445158.
